Karena Johnson on BBC News speaking about the Arts Council funding

Friday 1st April

The Arts Council England unveiled its National portfolio of funded organizations on Wednesday 30 March.

The Broadway will see its funding from ACE increase from 2012/13 to ensure that the organization can continue to enhance education and cultural provision for children and families in Barking and the surrounding boroughs.

The Broadway was set up in 2004 to advance education via promotion and support of the literary and performing arts, drama and music; to provide facilities and training to benefit the public, especially those who due to age, infirmity, disablement or poverty have a need.

Karena Johnson, Chief Executive and Artistic Director at The Broadway said: ‘I am thrilled that the Arts Council will continue to fund the Broadway. We are proud of our achievements over the last year and with the continuation of the funding awarded we can aim to move The Broadway closer to its corporate vision, to be outstanding at enhancing the local cultural experience that reflects the rich diversity of East London.’

Great news!
I look forward to getting to The Broadway as often as possible and hopefully even getting involved. It is great to have a local, accessible venue providing some high quality productions. Please do what you can to keep the quality high.
