If you’re aged Aged 13 - 25 and have always wanted to learn how you can create Afrobeats or Drill, then look no further than this summer workshop event series taking place at the Broadway on 27 and 28 August.
The workshops are powered by the world's leading production suite KOMPLETE (from specialists in the field, Native Instruments), and will focus on expansion packs GLOBAL SHAKE and LOCKDOWN GRIND. You’ll learn how to use MASCHINE to build beats, shape melodies, and create compositions from start to finish. Plus, you'll gain valuable insights from producers and artists and have a chance to showcase your work and get feedback on the day. There will also be an option to break out and ask questions on how to DJ with a producers mind.
Workshop sessions are 3 hours long, with each time slot having time to bring you up to speed on MASCHINE. There will also be the chance to showcase your work, get feedback on the day, and watch a live performance. DAY ONE - 27th August
FOCUSE ON: AFROBEATS
Celebrating the vitality and excitement of contemporary African music, expansion pack GLOBAL SHAKE bursts with infectious melodies, radio-ready vocals, and convention-defying rhythms, capturing and celebrating the diverse sounds contemporary African Music.
With a walkthrough from producers, you’ll be shown MASCHINE basics, as well as how to approach the sound pack, information on percussion, bass and vocals.
DAY TWO - 28th August
FOCUS ON: DRILL
Uncover the intense, powerful sound of UK drill – moody and melancholy keys, iconic heavy bass slides, and punchy processed drums. Edgy and energetic, expansion pack LOCKDOWN GRIND reverberates with tightly wound trap beats and ice-cold digital synths for laying down definitive post-grime sounds.
With a walkthrough from producers, you’ll be shown MASCHINE basics, as well as how to approach, construct and create your beats.
This event is free to attend, and all equipment and sounds will be provided. However, due to anticipated demand, place MUST be booked in advance HERE.
Each day is ticketed separately, meaning you can choose which genre you would like to focus on.
There are 2 repeating workshops each day, with each workshop lasting 3 hours. To book a ticket, please specify which date you would like to apply for first, then you can choose whether you would like the morning or afternoon session.
